Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall Likely in Telangana, Kerala, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan; Delhi-NCR to Remain Cloudy with Light Rain, Says IMD

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted intense monsoon activity across large parts of the country in the coming days. Multiple weather systems are set to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to regions including Telangana, Konkan & Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, and Karnataka, with the possibility of extremely heavy downpours over Coastal Karnataka and Telangana. Northwest India is also likely to witness recurring spells of heavy rain, with isolated very heavy showers in parts of Uttarakhand. Here are the details












South Peninsular India: Telangana and Coastal Karnataka to Receive Extremely Heavy Rain

A well-marked low-pressure area that was over northwest Bay of Bengal has moved west-northwestwards and weakened into a low-pressure area over south Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh. This system, along with a shear zone along 17°N, is likely to trigger heavy to very heavy rainfall in parts of South India.

East and Central India: Isolated Very Heavy Rainfall Over Vidarbha and West Bengal

The low-pressure system over Chhattisgarh, coupled with a western disturbance over north Pakistan and adjoining Punjab, is influencing East and Central India. Isolated very heavy rainfall is expected over Vidarbha and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, while moderate to heavy rainfall is likely across surrounding regions.

Western India is also under the influence of the monsoon trough, with isolated heavy rainfall forecasted for Gujarat, Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra. Very heavy rainfall is expected over Konkan, Goa, and Marathwada on 29th August.

Northwest India: Isolated Very Heavy Rainfall in Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan

The northwest region is expected to witness scattered rainfall events, with Uttarakhand and East Rajasthan receiving isolated very heavy rainfall on multiple days. Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Haryana will also experience rainfall between 29th August and 2nd September.

In Northeast India, Arunachal Pradesh will experience isolated heavy rainfall from 29th–30th August, while Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will have rainfall on 29th August and 1st–2nd September.

Delhi/NCR Weather Forecast: Cloudy with Light Rain

Delhi/NCR will experience generally cloudy conditions in upcoming days, with chances of very light to light rain or thundershowers at few places. Maximum temperatures will hover between 30–35°C, slightly below normal, while minimum temperatures are expected between 22–25°C. Winds will predominantly blow from the southeast direction at speeds ranging from 10–22 kmph.
