Reliance, Meta join hands to roll out affordable enterprise AI in India
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) has announced a joint venture (JV) with Meta to bring enterprise-grade artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to Indian businesses at affordable price points.
Meta’s open-source Llama models will offer agentic AI capabilities to build vertical and sector-specific solutions for Indian enterprises.
The collaboration will utilise Llama’s engineering, while Reliance will contribute to expanding its reach to thousands of enterprises and small and medium businesses (SMBs) in the Indian market.
“We will democratise enterprise-grade AI for every Indian organisation—from ambitious SMBs to blue-chip corporates, enabling them to innovate faster, operate more efficiently, and compete confidently on the global stage,” Mukesh Ambani, chairman and managing director of Reliance Industries, said.
Under the joint venture agreement, Reliance Industries and Meta have jointly committed to an initial investment of around Rs 855 crore (about $100 million) in a ratio of 70% and 30%, respectively, the company said.
The deal, announced on Friday at Reliance Industries’ 48th annual general meeting (AGM), is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2025, post customary regulatory approvals.

Meta, Reliance partnership
Reliance Industries has tied up with Meta to bring advanced AI tools within reach of businesses across the spectrum, from fledgling startups and small firms to large corporations.
The joint venture will offer:
Enterprise AI platform-as-a-service: Indian businesses can deploy generative AI models tailored to their needs and specific use cases in the workflows. The spectrum of product offerings extends across sales and marketing, information technology development and operations, customer service, and finance, among others.
Pre-configured AI solutions: The Indian enterprises can utilise plug-and-play AI tools, which come already set up with the most common functions businesses need.
In a video message played at the AGM, Meta chief executive Mark Zuckerberg said, “It is a key step forward towards ensuring that everyone has access to AI, and eventually, superintelligence. Meta and Reliance are going to deliver our open-source AI models to Indian businesses to help them fuel their work.”
