2026 Tesla Model Y Performance Unveiled With 460 HP; Headed To India Soon?
Tesla has unveiled the 2026 Model Y Performance, a more powerful version of its mid-size electric SUV. The model will be available in Europe from September 2025, with production at Tesla’s Brandenburg plant in Germany. Prices start at around €62,000 (approx Rs 63 Lakh).
The new Model Y Performance produces 460 hp, allowing it to sprint from 0–98 kmph in 3.3 seconds, faster than several sports cars, including the Porsche 911 GT3. Its top speed is 249 kmph, while the range remains a competitive 579 km per charge, thanks to new high-density battery cells.
The SUV features adaptive dampers and a specially tuned suspension for sharper handling. The exterior gains a redesigned front bumper, diffuser-style rear bumper, 21-inch Arachnid 2.0 wheels, and red brake callipers for a sportier look.
Inside, Tesla has fitted a 16-inch high-resolution touchscreen, its largest yet. Front sports seats now feature heating and ventilation, while there are also a handful of subtle Performance badges. Tesla has also introduced Stability Assist Mode on the new Model Y Performance. This will allow owners to customise traction and control settings for different driving conditions.
This launch comes at a crucial time for Tesla in Europe, where sales have slowed amid growing competition from EV brands. While initially focused on Europe, Tesla is expected to introduce the Model Y Performance to other markets, including India, in the near future.
