Several vehicles were spotted in the car park for filming
Filming for a new Hollywood movie is currently taking place in Liverpool city centre. Film set props have been spotted in one area of the city centre as filming begins on a new production that is set to hit cinemas next year.
The ECHO believes filming for the new Clayface film, which is set in the DC Universe, has started at the former Merseyside Police HQ on Canning Place in the city centre. The disused car park for the empty building is filled with Gotham-themed cars such as police cars, an ambulance and a Gotham Broadcasting Channel news van.
When the ECHO arrived at one of the scenes for the new film, stencils were being placed on one of the vehicles with filming expected to take place over the coming days.
The film is based on the comic book character which haunts the fictional Gotham City, while being a villain of Batman.
However, according to a report from IGN last year, it is not believed to be set in the same film universe as The Batman, featuring Robert Pattinson.

Clayface is expected to be released in September next year, with Deadline reporting that Tom Rhys Harris would be playing the character in the horror-thriller style film.
Parking suspensions were also spotted near Liverpool Town Hall for the weekend, with filming being listed as the reason for the closure to cars on High Street next to the hall. It is unclear as to whether it is linked to the same film.
In June this year, Homes England were named as preferred bidders in the sale of the former police headquarters, with homes, a hotel, retail and leisure facilities all proposed to be introduced to the site.
The striking location in the city centre, which housed officers for more than 40 years, is now being sold to Homes England, which was the preferred option out of 13 submitted bids.

The agency submitted proposals to turn the site into a mixed-use waterfront development, likely to comprise residential, hotel and retail, leisure and commercial spaces.
The Batman crews were spotted throughout the city during filming in 2020. In August that year, American filmmaker Matt Reeves, who directed the superhero film, confirmed 75% of production would take place in Liverpool.
Matt was asked by a fan at DC FanDome: “What should we expect to see from Gotham City in this film?”
He responded: “It’s just as important as any of the Rogues Gallery, it’s sort of like the nature of this place is and the history of it is critically important to our story.
“One of the things I really wanted to do because it is the centre of this story, especially the history of corruption in the city, was I wanted to present it in a way that was really fleshed out.
“I wanted it to feel like an American city you’d never been to.”
In October 2020, filming took place at St George’s Hall, Anfield Cemetery and the Royal Liver Building.
