Delhi Speaker Gupta hails Stanford-World Peace Centre tie-up on education, culture
Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta on Sunday, announcing the upcoming collaboration between the World Peace Center and Stanford University, welcomed the tie-up for the promotion of educational and cultural exchanges and spreading the message of peace and cooperation across Indian borders.
Such partnerships, he noted, prove that humanity’s problems are solved not through war but through cooperation, dialogue, and mutual respect.

Addressing a gathering at the inaugural ceremony of an International Symposium on World Peace, Harmony, and Peace Education at the newly-established World Peace Center, Gupta said, “Peace is the true path of humanity, and non-violence is its greatest strength.”
On the occasion, citing the examples of prominent Indian figures who upheld the message of peace and non-violence, he said, “India’s history is a history of peace and non-violence. Lord Mahavira proclaimed, ‘Ahimsa is the supreme religion’. Lord Buddha envisioned a continent united in compassion, and Mahatma Gandhi proved that even imperialist powers could be defeated through truth and non-violence.”
Highlighting India’s role as a ‘Vishva Guru’ (World Teacher), Gupta emphasized that India’s identity is deeply rooted in the values of peace and non-violence, as enshrined in the teachings of Lord Mahavira, Lord Buddha, and Mahatma Gandhi.
He further added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has revived this heritage on international platforms by voicing India’s opinion to support peace, stability, and cooperation at various global platforms including, the United Nations, G20, and BRICS. “India gave the timely message that the future lies not in war but in peace,” he added.
He also praised the efforts of Acharya Lokesh, Founder President of World Peace Centre, for preparing the peace education curriculum for the institution.
This education removes negative tendencies from within human beings and awakens humane and divine qualities, fostering compassion, harmony, and positive human values, Gupta noted.
