The Melissa Dalton Show welcomes Yannick Czukor from Fabrique d’Images, who shared fascinating behind-the-scenes stories about the making of Stitch Head, or ‘Bitzbouf’ in Luxembourgish, coming to cinemas on 29 October. As line producer, Yannick explained how the Luxembourg animation studio helped bring the film to life.
The film, directed by Steve Hudson and distributed locally by Tarantula Distribution, is a heartwarming, funny, and spooky adventure for all the family. Adapted from the beloved children’s books by Guy Bass, Stitch Head tells the story of a forgotten creation living in a crumbling castle laboratory. Once the first experiment of a mad scientist, Stitch Head now spends his days caring for the professor’s later and more monstrous inventions. But when a travelling monster circus arrives in town, Stitch Head sees a chance for fame, friendship, and maybe even love.
The English-language version of the film features a stellar voice cast, including Rob Brydon and Asa Butterfield. And a Luxembourgish dubbed version of ‘Bitzbouf’ will also be showing in cinemas so everyone can enjoy the film in their language of choice.
Behind the Scenes with Fabrique d’Images
During his interview with Melissa Dalton, Yannick Czukor revealed how Fabrique d’Images, a Luxembourg-based animation studio founded in 2002, was responsible for much of the film’s detailed 3D modeling, texturing, and rigging, bringing Stitch Head’s world and characters to life.
Artistic direction was led by Stéphane Lecocq, who began the film’s initial graphic research with Hudson in 2019 and guided the visual style right up until early 2025. The Luxembourg team handled around 75% of the film’s sets, as well as key stages of animation, effects, lighting, and compositing.
Yannick explained how the team at Fabrique d’Images balanced creative vision with operational excellence, ensuring the film maintained its signature quirky charm while meeting international production standards.
A Luxembourg Collaboration
Stitch Head is a co-production between Luxembourg and Germany, made possible with the support of the Film Fund Luxembourg. It stands as another shining example of how Luxembourg’s animation sector continues to punch above its weight internationally, producing high-quality content for both local and global audiences.
