Tourist arrivals in Nepal increase by 22 pc in August, reaching 88,680 – myRepublica – The New York Times Partner, Latest news of Nepal in English, Latest News Articles

KATHMANDU, Sept 1: Foreign tourist arrivals in Nepal surged by 22 percent in August 2025, compared to the same month last year, according to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB).

This August, 88,680 tourists entered Nepal by air, while the figure stood at 72,717 during the same period last year.

Of the total arrivals, 40 percent (35,505 tourists) came from India, making it the largest source market. China followed with 7,533 visitors (8.5 percent), while the United States contributed 6,068 (6.8 percent), Sri Lanka 5,956 (6.7 percent), and Bangladesh 4,262 (4.8 percent).

In terms of regions, arrivals included 47,137 from SAARC countries, 15,777 from other Asian nations,  11,132 from Europe, 7,293 from America, 2,435 from Oceania, and 322 from Africa.

Between January and August 2025, Nepal welcomed a total of 736,562 foreign tourists.
