Japanese Professors Conduct Science Shows in Palauan Schools

By: Eustoria Maria Borja

In celebration of 30 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Palau, Japanese professors visited local schools to inspire students with interactive science demonstrations.

On September 4 and 5, 2024, Associate Professor Ryoji Fukuoka from Osaka Seikei University and Associate Professor Masayo Akazawa from Bukkyo University led the presentations at Belau Modekngei High School, Palau High School, and SDA Elementary School. The shows aimed to spark student interest in science by showcasing engaging experiments.

Hazime Baules, an 8th grader at SDA Elementary School, said, “At first, it felt like we were watching magic tricks, but then they explained the science behind it all. Seeing how science makes the impossible possible made me appreciate and love science even more.”

This event was part of a broader effort to promote educational collaboration between the two nations as part of the 30th-anniversary celebrations of diplomatic ties between Japan and Palau
