Kimberley Library presents ‘Let’s Travel’ series
Head to the Kimberley Public Library this fall and winter for an engaging lineup of travel presentations.
The Kimberley Public Library invites you to join them for their new “Let’s Travel” series, launching this fall and winter.
This series aims to inspire through presentations from local travel writers who will share their experiences travelling all over the world.
“From the rugged beauty of Iceland and Greenland to the vibrant wonders of India and Egypt, and the awe-inspiring landscapes of Canada’s National Parks, this series of presentations by community members invites you on unforgettable journeys through stunning places and rich cultures,” KPL staff said.
2025/26 Let’s Travel Schedule:
•September 26 – India with Gerry Feehan
•October 3 and 10 – Japan with Stephen Interisano
•November 21 and 28 – Portugal with Stephen Interisano
•December 5 and 12 – Iceland and Greenland with Stephen Interisano
•January 9 and 16, February 6 and 13, March 13 and 20 – National Parks of Canada with Stephen Interisano
•January 30 – Egypt and The Nile with Gerry Feehan
“If there’s one thing we like to accumulate, it’s memories and experiences,” Interisano said. “That’s why, 15 years ago Janet and I took a year off work and travelled around the world. In that year we hiked on all 7 continents and swam in all 5 oceans; and the adventures continue.
“As much as we love exploring, we also love sharing our adventures; which is why we continue to deliver hundreds of engaging travel presentations at schools, libraries and seniors’ centres. For all the travel we have enjoyed, Dorothy said it best, ‘there’s no place like home’… One of our goals is to experience as many Canadian National Parks as possible; we’re at 31 of 49, and counting.”
Feehan is an award-winning travel writer and photographer, who after a lengthy law career in Red Deer, Alta., decided to trade in his briefcase for a camera and passport. He and his wife Florence currently reside in Kimberley.
“There are a couple of ways to experience ‘the real flavour’ of a country,” Feehan said. “You can go first class, but when you ‘buy it’ you’ll only see a sanitized, orchestrated version of the world. Alternatively, you can wander out into the streets solo and really get immersed. Things happen, spontaneously, accidentally and genuinely. The latter approach inevitably results in a richer cultural experience—but can also come with diarrhoea.”
