Letter: Civic Music is for everyone
Published 8:30 pm Friday, September 5, 2025
I have been taking my four kids to Civic Music since my youngest was 2 and now she will shortly be turning 7. Last year alone, they were exposed to and experienced music from Big Band era to a classically trained pianist to a string quartet that played Metallica and their personal favorite, an a cappella group. Not only did they get to hear fantastic music but also see the level work ethic these professional musicians give at each performance. Civic Music is for everyone: Young and old. Music connoisseurs or not. Civic Music allows the whole audience to be exposed to beauty through music for an evening, which can’t be replicated through screens. As the current president, I would love to see our audience filled with a wide spectrum of ages coming to hear the music that we are lucky enough to have right here in Albert Lea.
Our first concert of the series, American Tune, is at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Albert Lea High School auditorium. You can get tickets right at the door. We hope to see everyone there.
