The Lab India 2024: One month down – The Lab

Mixmag and The Smirnoff Project presented by Smirnoff Lemon Pop launched a new season of the global edition of our legendary DJ streaming series – The Lab – in September with multiple events across different Indian cities. With parties in Goa, Kolkata, Bengaluru & Gurgaon – featuring the best Indian and international talent – with a strong focus on inclusivity and diversity.

The new season kicked off on a high note at The Lab Goa with Anushka, where she played a diverse set featuring some electro, breakbeat, leftfield house and techno, showcasing herself as one of the most versatile DJs in the country. Next up was The Lab Kolkata with Hamza Rahimtulla & The Rajasthan Folkstars. A truly one-of-a-kind experience, Hamza & The Rajasthan Folkstars scintillated the crowd with their unique blend of house music overlaid with live usage of traditional Rajasthani folk instruments. The next show saw The Lab travel to Bengaluru, where London-resident Rrose shared their signature sound of contemporary techno. They performed a distinctly detailed, sensual and hallucinogenic form of techno that challenged the mind and body of attendees in equal measure.

The Lab Gurgaon with BEC & The Lab Bengaluru with Spada received great love and support as the last two Labs of the month. While BEC’s set featured tracks that were perfectly weighted, well swung and built on high pressure drums; Spada took the crowd on a melodic journey of his personal brand of house & techno, showcasing why he is one of the most prolific DJs on the international music circuit. Also during the shows, some of the artists performing gave their thoughts on the “We Do We” campaign by The Smirnoff Project presented by The Smirnoff Lemon Pop Non Alcoholic and what it means to them. The project champions the power of collective unity and advocates for a more inclusive society where individual differences are celebrated rather than marginalised. Stay tuned on The Smirnoff Project (@thesmirnoffproject) Instagram handle to catch what the artists said.
