‘The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy’ Wows

It is a welcome confirmation of the uplifting power of travel to transform us that Eugene Levy, multi-award-winning Canadian actor (Schitt’s Creek) and comedian, has—since his first season of Apple TV+’s The Reluctant Traveler in 2023—grown from an indifferent, fearful traveler into a fascinated, enthusiastic man-about-globe, who has even written a (gasp!) getaway bucket list for his third season, which premieres September 19. “Now that I’m considered something of a traveler, I’ve challenged myself to complete my own bucket list before actually kicking the bucket,” quips Levy, known for his engaging dry wit. And what an eye-opening, lavish, rousing and hilarious ride this acclaimed travel series has become along the way. Sure, Levy still has uncertain reservations about stepping out of his comfort zone, but that hasn’t stopped him from enjoying the luxury hotel reservations made for him, as well as his newfound appreciation for indelible adventures. Across eight episodes, Levy explores eight countries—Austria, Canada, England, India, Ireland, Mexico, South Korea and the United States—touching down in dreamy, horizon-stretching destinations that broaden his perspective, as well as his viewers’ outlook. The network has just released the trailer (see below). Anticipate waves of surprising fun.

Making New Friends

Stellar guests meet en route with Levy, perhaps the most dazzling of whom is William, Prince of Wales, who asks him: “Was getting drunk with Prince William on your bucket list?” Levy replies: “That’s the bucket!” Their conversational stroll together through the grounds of England’s Windsor Castle is memorable.

Among many other pleasing on-screen personalities are Canadian multi-platinum star and five-time Grammy Award-winner Michael Bublé; Rahul Dravid, former Indian cricketer famed as one of the greatest batsmen in the game’s history; Eric Nam, a Korean-American singer, songwriter and actor; and Levy’s daughter, Canadian actor Sarah Levy (Schitt’s Creek and SurrealEstate).

Discovering Travel’s Magic

Cool, too, is the hoped-for quest that you might be inspired to plan a trip to one of The Reluctant Traveler’s featured hot spots. A few years ago, when this travelogue debuted, Levy described himself as “the great indoors type of guy.” He has come far. “I’d be a liar to say these experiences have not made my life richer, because you’re only passing through once,” muses Levy.
