planet.com – B2B Portal: DN Solutions acquires German high-end machine tool manufacturer HELLER: Annual sales expected to reach around €2 billion
Dynamic growth for machine tool giant DN Solutions through HELLER integration – HELLER’s 130 years of experience and broad customer base as a foundation for growth
DN Solutions, the world’s third-largest and Korea’s leading manufacturer of machine tools, announced on August 27 that it had signed an agreement to acquire the HELLER Group, a German manufacturer of state-of-the-art machine tools.
With a history spanning more than 130 years, HELLER, founded in 1894, is renowned for its world-leading technology in the field of machining centers and as a proven specialist in demanding high-precision processes.
Upon completion of the acquisition, DN Solutions’ consolidated annual sales are expected to reach around €2 billion.
On August 26, Won-jong Kim, CEO of DN Solutions, met with the Heller family, the largest shareholder of HELLER Holding SE & Co. KGaA in Nürtingen, Germany, and signed an agreement to acquire all shares.
This acquisition gives DN Solutions access to HELLER’s world-leading technology in the field of machining centers, which has been developed over more than 130 years. The acquisition expands DN Solutions’ portfolio and strengthens the company’s position as a premium brand in the global machine tool market.
By combining their production networks, the two companies will become an even stronger global partner for their customers. HELLER operates five large plants in Germany, the UK, the US, Brazil, and China, while DN Solutions has production facilities in Korea and China and is also planning a new plant in India.
This global production network gives both companies the flexibility to respond effectively to regional fluctuations in demand, changes in supply chains, and adjustments in trade policy. The US plant in particular will help cushion the impact of recent changes in US customs policy.
With more than 130 years of experience in the machine tool industry and a broad installed base, HELLER brings comprehensive service expertise and valuable resources to the table. This know-how strengthens DN Solutions’ innovative power and underscores its commitment to providing customers worldwide with the highest level of service.
HELLER also has an extensive track record of working with leading global companies in the automotive, aerospace, and defense industries—sectors that require the highest level of technological expertise. This experience enables DN Solutions to gain even deeper insights into key customer industries.
By integrating with DN Solutions, HELLER gains financial strength and benefits from synergies from a strong capital base, a global sales network, and a broad product portfolio. Together, the two companies expect higher sales, increased cost competitiveness through economies of scale, and improved profitability.
Both companies aim to complete the necessary approval procedures quickly and then exploit the full potential of their synergies.
DN Solutions CEO Won-jong Kim said: “DN Solutions has proven itself in global competition. By combining our strengths with HELLER’s 130 years of expertise in machining centers, this partnership will deliver groundbreaking innovations for the manufacturing industry. In addition, both companies will offer unique added value to their customers and further consolidate their position as premium brands in the global machine tool market.”
“This partnership gives us the opportunity to accelerate innovation and expand our global reach. By combining HELLER’s process expertise with the strong resources and dynamic spirit of DN Solutions, we will set new standards in the machine tool industry,” said Dr. Thorsten Schmidt, CEO of HELLER.
