HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Returning for its seventh year as a marquee event of Huntsville Music Month, Women in Music Week (WIMW) will take over stages across the city from Sept. 12–21, spotlighting the creative talents of more than 50 women in the music industry.
The celebration kicks off Friday, Sept. 12, with the Love Jones WIMW Kickoff Showcase at The Electric Belle, featuring CARVENA (aka Carvena Jones, Season 2 finalist on The Four: Battle for Stardom) with Alisha, Canderiah Smothers (aka CAN, Season 4 finalist on American Idol), and Zami Mare.
“This year, the impact of WIMW is bigger than ever,” Huntsville Music Officer Matt Mandrella said. “We’ve doubled the number of events compared to last year, giving audiences even more opportunities to experience the power of women’s artistry on stage and behind the scenes.”
WIMW Executive Producer Alli Johnson of Artemis Productions credited the city’s support for helping the event expand. “The collaboration with the Huntsville Music Office has significantly expanded the event’s scope, transforming it from a weekend celebration into a week-long extravaganza,” Johnson said. “This expansion has enabled us to amplify our reach and showcase an even greater lineup of artists.”
All events are free to the public unless otherwise noted. Ticketed performances include Melissa Etheridge & Indigo Girls and others at major venues. Visit WomeninMusicHSV.com for full details and schedule updates.
