SKOT Impact Academy: Shaping the future of storytelling in Africa
SKOT Communications, has launched the SKOT Impact Academy, a social impact initiative to equip early-career professionals with the skills to thrive in Nigeria’s fast-evolving communications industry.
Tokunboh George-Taylor, the founder of SKOT Academy and CEO of SKOT Communications speaking during the unveiling in Lagos, on Thursday, September 11, said the vision is to give young professionals a solid foundation to thrive.
“SKOT Impact Academy is more than a training programme, it is where young professionals are given a solid foundation to grow, thrive, and lead with purpose.
“My vision is for the academy to be the PR hub that empowers them to become global storytellers whose voices shape industries, strengthen brands, and redefine the future of African communications,” she said.
George-Taylor further explained that the SKOT Impact Academy is for people with one- or two-years’ experience, while the master class is for those with over two years’ experience.
She said that the foundational class, which is the tuition-free six-week programme will be held thrice in a year.
“The first cohort starts on Saturday, September 13, and it’s physical, the next cohort is billed for first quarter in 2026, and it’s virtual, while the third cohort is in June 2026, and it would be hybrid,” she emphasised.
Besides, she explained that there is the SKOT Academy which offers SKOT Masterclasses, a programme curated for junior-senior level professionals aiming to refine their strategic communication capabilities.
However, Taylor emphasised that this cadre comes with the payment platform. Then, the SKOT Elevate which delivers bespoke, client-specific courses designed to address unique organisational needs.
Frank Aigbogun, the publisher/editor in-chief of BusinessDay Media Limited in his goodwill address, applauded Taylor whom he described as a thorough-breed professional, for giving back to society such a wonderful initiative.
Aigbogun made a clarion call to all communication experts and industries to rally round the academy, which he stressed will certainly thrive considering the founder’s professionalism.

Nancy Nnamdi, sharing her experience while at SKOT Communications, affirmed the thoroughness and professionalism of the founder, as she emphasised the students are privileged to being groomed under such a diligent coach.
Mercy Kalu, a student of the academy, assured that on behalf of other candidates, they will take the knowledge acquired to build a better society.

With over 400 applications received from the first cohort, the Impact Academy builds on SKOT Academy’s empower professionals with PR skills and knowledge to drive career growth and reshape the communications landscape.
