Super Mario Galaxy Movie Was Leaked By Old Spice Months Ago
Now that we know The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is real, it looks like that Old Spice leak that nearly all of us dismissed as fake was right this whole time.
At an hour long, yesterday’s Nintendo Direct was one of the biggest that we’ve seen in the company’s history, and nearly half of that time went to Mario to celebrate his 40th anniversary. One of the main announcements of the whole Direct was for the sequel to the Super Mario Bros. Movie, which we now know is called The Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
Considering the first movie ended with a tease for Yoshi, the sudden jump over to Galaxy instead of World surprised a lot of us. As it turns out, though, the sequel’s title and even our first look at Yoshi might have been floating around for months thanks to a seemingly legitimate collaboration with Old Spice.
We Got Our First Look At The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Months Ago And No One Believed It
We Even Know What Yoshi Is Going To Look Like
A few months ago, images started circulating the web that showed two deodorant cans of Old Spice with some strange Mario theming. That theming seemed to suggest that the Mario movie sequel was going to be titled The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which seemed far-fetched at the time, but we now know to be true.
It wasn’t just the title that was included on these cans of Old Spice, though. One of them, Brooklyn Bounce, features Yoshi on the front, giving us our first “official” look at his design in the movie. There’s also a can called Desert Detour that features Luigi and a Tostarenan from Super Mario Odyssey, suggesting they’re going to be in the film.
Since the collaboration seemed so random and we had no idea what the second movie was going to be called at the time, it was easy to dismiss these Old Spice cans as fake. Now that we know the title for sure, though, it seems like a massive leak has been hiding under all of our noses for months, and even given us a look at some pretty big inclusions for the Super Mario Galaxy Movie.
