One such similar tale is of a legend who reshaped the art of storytelling by delivering over 900 films, romancing 85 heroines, and leaving behind records that very few have even come close to breaking.

The actor that we are talking about is none other than Prem Nazir. Nazir ventured into the world of acting in the year 1952 with the film Marumaka. Although he had his own share of ups and downs in his career. He became a household name with films that addressed social and religious issues, making him immensely popular among audiences. From 1956 to 1976, he reached the peak of his career and became one of the most bankable stars of Malayalam cinema. While he worked with many actresses, his pairing with actress Sheela became iconic; they worked in about 130 films together, a record that any film pairing.

In his long career trajectory, he worked with 85 actresses and remarkably acted in 39 films in a single year. This also bagged him a place in the Guinness World Record. Some of his superhit films included Murappennu, Iruttinte Athmavu, Kallichellamma, CID Nazir, and Udaya Path, which further proved his versatility as an actor and further cemented his image as one of the finest actors. His contribution to Malayalam cinema was so significant that he is often credited with giving the industry its unique identity.
Career shift.
However, tides turned in the 1980s when his career saw a shift. From lead roles, he gradually moved towards supporting characters. His last film as a hero was Vellarikka Pattanam in 1985, while his final screen appearance was in Kadathanadan Ambadi alongside Mohanlal.

Unfortunately, Prem Nazir passed away in 1989. At just the age of 62, this superstar said goodbye to the world. While he was actively involved in politics and campaigning, he was admitted to a Chennai hospital due to duodenal ulcers. Despite treatment, his condition deteriorated, and on 16 January 1989, he took his last breath.

He was honoured with the Kerala State Film Award and even received the Padma Bhushan for his service to Indian cinema.
