Dylan Stewart ejected vs Vanderbilt
COLUMBIA — South Carolina football star edge rusher Dylan Stewart was ejected for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty against Vanderbilt on Sept. 13.
The Gamecocks were trailing 24-7 at the time of the penalty and then Commodores proceeded to score another touchdown at the end of the play.
It appeared as though Stewart shoved right tackle Bryce Henderson which resulted in the penalty. Coach Shane Beamer said he “thinks” Stewart would have to sit for the first half against Missouri on Sept. 20 but isn’t positive. There’s been no official confirmation from South Carolina but Beamer will hold another press conference on Sept. 14.
Stewart is a critical piece to defensive coordinator Clayton White’s defense and had a productive game before the penalty. He had two tackles for loss, two solo tackles, and two quarterback hurries.
The Gamecocks haven’t scored since the first quarter.
