UDS rolls out AfCFTA courses this Sept
The University for Development Studies (UDS) will this month roll out academic courses on the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) to deepen knowledge and build expertise on the continent-wide trade initiative.
This makes UDS the second higher learning institution in Ghana, after All Nations University to adopt the AfCFTA curriculum. The initiative is being spearheaded by the Ghana International Trade and Finance Conference (GITFiC).
Chief Executive Officer of GITFiC, Mr Selasie Koffi-Ackom, described the move as a major milestone in preparing students to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s integration and trade agenda.
He said a letter signed by the Dean of the UDS School of Business on August 29, 2025, confirmed the adoption of the curriculum.
Under the arrangement, undergraduate students will be exposed to courses such as Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship, Economy of Ghana, and International Trade and Finance.
At the postgraduate level, AfCFTA content will feature in programmes like MSc Development Finance and Economic Growth and Development.
Mr Koffi-Ackom stressed that embedding AfCFTA studies in academia would produce a new generation of experts to drive the continent’s economic transformation.
The AfCFTA, launched in 2021, is the world’s largest free trade area, uniting 55 African countries
