Glasgow roads to shut as Joel Coen to film Jack of Spades
Filming for Jack of Spades, a period film set in the late 1800s, will take place between September 21 and 30 in and around Glasgow City Chambers.

Starring The Crown’s Josh O’Connor, the film will be directed by Joel Coen.
Joel, along with his brother Ethan, has been responsible for acclaimed films such as Fargo, O Brother Where Art Thou, No Country For Old Men and True Grit.

Jack of Spades is the director’s second solo film, following the release of The Tragedy of Macbeth in 2021.
Details about the historical production are being kept under wraps.
The Merchant City and Trongate Community Council have now confirmed which specific roads in the city centre will be shut and for how long, including closure dates.
From 3pm on September 21 until 3pm on September 24, drivers will be restricted on the south side of Cochrane Street as prohibition of waiting, loading and unloading has been implemented.
Prohibition of waiting, loading and unloading has also been implemented on John Street between George Street and Ingram Street, Montrose Street between Cochrane Street and Ingram Street (west side only), South Frederick Street, and George Square (south side) from 3pm on September 24, until 10pm on September 30.
There will also be a prohibition of waiting, loading and unloading from 3pm on September 25 until 10pm on September 29 on George Street between North Frederick Street and John Street.
Meanwhile, between 3pm on September 27 until 10pm on September 28, there is the prohibition of waiting, loading and unloading on John Street between George Street and Martha Street and George Street between North Frederick Street and Montrose Street.

Meanwhile, drivers will be unable to access Cochrane Street, John Street between George Street and Ingram Street, Montrose Street between Ingram Street and Cochrane Street (northbound closed), South Frederick Street and George Square (south side) from 7am on September 25 until 10pm on September 30.
Drivers will also be unable to access George Street between North Frederick Street and Montrose Street, and John Street between George Street and Martha Street from 2am on September 28 until 10pm on September 28.

It comes after filming for Spider-Man: Brand New Day took place across Glasgow last month.
The film will star the likes of Tom Holland and Zendaya and is set to be released on July 31, 2026.
