Aisha Bowe: From Rocket Science to Business Leadership

Founder of Stemboard and Lingo Inspires Future Leaders in Technology

Despite being told by her high school guidance counselor to consider cosmetology instead of college, Aisha Bowe chose to follow her love of math and science. That decision would shape her future as she carved out a path from student to NASA rocket scientist, entrepreneur, and astronaut.

Her story is one of resilience and determination, showing how a single choice to dream bigger can defy expectations and inspire generations.

Engineering Her Way to NASA

Bowe earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in aerospace engineering from the University of Michigan. She went on to work at NASA’s Ames Research Center, where her projects focused on developing technologies that improve air traffic safety—pioneering work that continues to impact aviation today.

Her role at NASA confirmed what she always knew: she belonged in the world of science and engineering, no matter the doubts others once cast over her potential.

Building STEMBoard and LINGO

Not content with just professional success, Bowe turned her focus to entrepreneurship. She founded STEMBoard, a company that delivers engineering and technology solutions for U.S. government agencies. Through STEMBoard, she proved that technical expertise could be paired with leadership to drive innovation and national progress.

Later, she launched LINGO, a coding kit designed to help young learners develop hands-on technology skills from home. By creating accessible, engaging ways for students to explore computer science, Bowe opened doors for the next generation of innovators.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Beyond her technical and business ventures, Bowe has become a sought-after motivational speaker and mentor. Her message is clear: dream big, work hard, and never let others define your limits. She dedicates her platform to encouraging young people—especially Black youth and girls in underrepresented communities—to see themselves as scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, and leaders.

Bowe’s journey demonstrates that the path to success often begins with challenging expectations and embracing one’s own vision. From NASA rocket scientist to entrepreneur and advocate, her impact is both local and global, paving the way for future trailblazers in STEM.
