Karisma Kapoor’s children SLAM Sunjay Kapur’s will as ‘bogus’ in Delhi High Court

New Delhi: The inheritance dispute over late businessman Sunjay Kapur’s assets has taken a dramatic turn in the Delhi High Court. For those who have missed it, his children with actor Karisma Kapoor, Samaira and Kiaan Raj Kapur, have challenged the will presented by his wife, Priya Kapur.

The latest hearing on Friday (September 26) witnessed sharp exchanges between the legal teams. Senior Advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, appearing for the children, described the will as “bogus” and argued that the confidentiality being sought by Priya Kapur’s side was merely “a cloak under which you fritter away the assets.”

Sunjay Kapur’s inheritance war takes a turn

Priya Kapur has filed a plea seeking the court’s permission to submit the details of her late husband’s assets in a sealed cover. She has also insisted that non-disclosure agreements be signed by those granted access to the information. Her lawyer, Senior Advocate Rajiv Nayar, stressed that the matter should remain confidential. “It is up to the court if it wants to enforce it, but at least nobody should discuss the case outside court. As long as everybody agrees on an understanding that it won’t be shared with the public at large, I leave it to my lady (the judge), we have to devise a way,” Nayar said.

However, Jethmalani opposed this request, maintaining that both parties had already spoken publicly about the case. He also pointed out that claims had been made about the children holding a Rs 1,900-crore stake in the RK Family Trust, something he said was irrelevant to the present dispute over personal assets. “I don’t understand what the ground for confidentiality is. I don’t want to get adversarial, but statements have been made by the other side about the subject matter of my children’s stake in a trust,” Jethmalani told the court.

Delhi HC orders to share copy of will with Rani Kapur

The RK Family Trust, created by Sunjay Kapur’s mother, Rani Kapur, has been drawn into speculation around the case. Sources close to Karisma Kapoor have clarified that her children do not have access to funds from the trust, which operates separately from the contested personal inheritance.

In a significant direction, the Delhi High Court ordered that a copy of the will be shared with Rani Kapur, the late businessman’s mother. The case, involving high-profile names and a staggering wealth, continues to draw attention as questions over legitimacy and rights within one of Delhi’s most prominent families remain unresolved.
