Forum Member Review Dario Vitale’s ‘Disaster’ Debut Versace Spring 2026 Collection

You must have been living under a rock not to know that Dario Vitale currently serves as the creative director of Versace. Back in March, Donatella Versce announced she was to depart as creative director of the iconic fashion label her late brother Gianni founded in 1978. Fast forward to the Spring 2026 season of Milan Fashion Week, and Vitale’s debut has landed. Staged within Milan’s historic Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, guests (including Bianca Jagger and Romeo Beckham) were transported back to the 1980s. Vitale ultimately sought inspiration from Gianni’s early collections, serving up a reinterpretation of classic Versace codes – like snug high-waisted jeans (cinched as tightly as possible), sexy mini dresses, soft leathers, and bursts of primary color.

“Disaster.” [zoom]

“That was supposed to be Versace?” [Mrs.T]

“Donatella sweetie I’m so sorry…” [GreyVetiver]

“The only thing I can say about the collection is that I can see him being fired after this season. The fact that his first day at work was on April Fool’s Day was prophetic, I guess…” [perhydrol]

“I have never seen such uninspired clothes in my life. This is so embarrassing.” [Squizree]

“I was expecting dull. However, this is…HIDEOUS. The clothes are worthy of life imprisonment.” [YohjiAddict]

“I am less shocked by the clothes than by the lack of sex appeal. Where are the bombshells and the sexy guys?
Dario didn’t think about the brand, unfortunately.” [Lola701]

“The lack of sex appeal just doesn’t feel right and I don’t think the brand’s clientele is going to get on board with this new vision. This is the first collection where I don’t see a single look making it to the red carpet. I already miss DV.” [badgalcrush]
