IIT Kharagpur and Jadavpur University faculty among world’s top 2% scientists in global ranking by Stanford University 2025 | Kolkata News

KOLKATA: Ninety-one faculty members from IIT Kharagpur, including director Suman Chakraborty, 51 professors from Jadavpur University have featured in a list of world’s 2% scientists, released by Stanford University in the US for 2025. Twenty-four faculty members from Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, 19 from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, 11 faculty members from Calcutta University and Burdwan University each and nine from IIEST, Shibpur have also been recognized among the top 2% scientists. Every year, Stanford University releases data for top 2% researchers across the world based on citations received in 2024. IIT Kharagpur director Suman Chakraborty said, “It is a humbling honor to be included in the list of the world’s top 2% of scientists alongside 90 of my esteemed colleagues from IIT Kharagpur. This recognition underscores the collective strength of our academic community and the institute’s vision of advancing transformative research with global relevance.”A JU senior official said, “In the list, there are a number of young faculty members and researcher fellows. This shows that young researchers are pursuing research of global standards amidst constraints.”
