Kawasaki is set to launch the KLX 230 S in India tomorrow, i.e., October 17. The bike, already available on the international market, is a dual-sport motorcycle suitable for both off-road and on-road riding. It has a slender and tall design, 198mm front and 220mm rear suspension travel, 239mm ground clearance, and 843mm seat height. Moreover, the machine comes with a range of road-legal elements like dual-purpose tyres, mirrors, turn indicators, and headlamps.
While there is no confirmation, industry reports suggest that Kawasaki may modify the bike’s specifications to meet the needs of Indian buyers. For instance, based on spy images, the upcoming Kawasaki bike seems to have India-specific features such as a front number plate holder, a saree guard, and a single-piece pillion grabrail.

Kawasaki KLX 230 S: Other Specifications
Globally, the Kawasaki KLX 230 S uses an air-cooled 233 cc single-cylinder unit that generates 19.73bhp at 8,000rpm and 20.3Nm at 6,000rpm, and comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. Owing to its lighter weight, the India-spec variant could match these specifications by offering greater smoothness and acceleration.
Hardware-wise, the bike features a box-section perimeter frame made of high-tensile steel. It uses a 37mm telescopic fork up front and a Uni-Trak linked monoshock at the rear. The bike’s braking system consists of 240mm front and 220mm rear petal discs, together with ABS (anti-lock braking system). These discs are placed on 21-inch (front) and 18-inch (rear) spoked wheels covered in block pattern tyres.
The KLX 230 S has a simple LCD and smartphone connectivity. The display shows information such as A petroleum gauge, digital clock, speedometer, trip meter, and odometer. Additionally, the bike has switchable rear ABS.

Although the pricing announcement is just around the corner, market reports indicate that the Kawasaki machine could retail between Rs 2.20 lakh and Rs 2.70 lakh, ex-showroom. It will compete against the Hero Xpulse 200 4V, the Yezdi Adventure, and the road-focused Suzuki V-Strom SX.
