The No. 3 Boston University men’s ice hockey team will begin Hockey East play on Friday night when the Terriers welcome UConn to Agganis Arena. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m.

That will begin a two-game weekend for the Terriers, as they will host Harvard in an exhibition tilt on Saturday at 7 p.m. Both men’s games will be part of a doubleheader with the 15th-ranked women’s ice hockey team, which hosts Maine for a pair of 3 p.m. contests.

Friday’s game will be televised on NESN in addition to being streamed on ESPN+, while Saturday’s exhibition will be exclusively on ESPN+. In addition, an audio-only broadcast for all games will be located here.

TERRIER TIDBITS

  • BU improved to 2-0-0 with a 4-1 victory over Union on Saturday at Agganis.
  • The Terriers held a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes thanks to goals from sophomore Shane Lachance, freshman Alex Zetterberg and freshman Cole Eiserman.
  • Senior goaltender Mathieu Caron made 17 of his 36 saves in the first period to maintain that three-goal advantage.
  • Sophomore Jack Harvey had the primary helper on Zetterberg’s game-winner and also lit the lamp in the second stanza to make it 4-1.
  • Ten different Terriers recorded a point, led by Harvey’s goal and assist.
  • BU is one of just five teams in the country to average 4.5 goals per game but allow only 1.5 goals per game.
  • No starter in Division I men’s hockey had a better save percentage this past weekend than Caron, who stopped 36 of 37 shots (.973) against the Garnet Chargers.
  • Caron ranks third in the country in both save percentage and goals-against average among goalies with two or more starts.
  • Eiserman, Hutson and Zetterberg have all recorded a point in each of the Terriers’ first two wins this season.

SERIES HISTORY

  • BU is 16-9-2 (.630) all-time against UConn, including a sweep of last year’s two-game series.
  • The Terriers earned a 6-1 win in Storrs on Feb. 23 before shutting out the Huskies, 6-0, at Agganis the next night.
  • Those two victories pushed the Terriers’ win streak against the Huskies to four games.

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES

  • UConn enters Friday with a 3-1-0 record after splitting a home-and-home series with Holy Cross this past weekend.
  • The Huskies rebounded from a 4-3 road loss in Worcester on Friday to defeat the Crusaders, 3-1, on home ice the next night.
  • UConn opened its season with a pair of home wins over Colgate.
  • Sophomore Jake Richard leads the Huskies with six points thanks to a team-best four goals.
  • Junior Jake Percival is second on the team in both goals (3) and points (5).
  • Sophomore Joey Muldowney paces UConn with three assists.
  • Junior goaltender Tyler Muszelik, a transfer from New Hampshire, has started all four games this season for UConn.
  • He owns a .904 save percentage and a 2.28 goals-against average.
  • Muszelik is 1-1-0 in two previous starts against BU, giving up four goals on both occasions.
