Green Street Monster Fest brings music and more to downtown Longview crowds

Under the bridge was the place to be Saturday as the Green Street Monster Fest again welcomed music lovers to downtown Longview.
The music festival gets its name from the Green Street bridge’s reputation for eating vehicles and 18-wheelers that are too tall to pass beneath it and for swallowing cars that get stuck beneath it during floods.
Saturday’s performers included Longview native Sunny Sweeney, Marshall native Wes Jeans and headliner Bowling For Soup.
The Green Street Monster Fest was the brainchild of Zahck Israel, co-owner of Ollie’s Skate Shop. Israel collaborated with fellow Longview entrepreneurs to put on the show, which was sponsored by several local businesses.
The festival also included merchandise vendors selling clothing, jewelry, art, drinks and food ranging from pizza to barbecue.
