This Single Maruti Factory Has Manufactured 1 Crore Cars – Trak.in

Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar facility has hit a major production milestone, rolling out 1 crore cars since it began operations in October 2006. This achievement solidifies the plant’s position as a significant hub in the automotive industry and the fastest Suzuki global facility to reach this milestone. It also contributes to the company’s overall cumulative production, which now exceeds 3.11 crore vehicles as of October 2024.

Manesar’s Key Role in Maruti Suzuki’s Success

Located on a vast 600-acre site, the Manesar plant plays a vital role in Maruti Suzuki’s growth, producing several popular models, including the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, Dzire, Wagon R, S-Presso, and Celerio. With an annual production capacity of approximately 2.35 million units, the plant helps maintain Maruti Suzuki’s leadership position in the Indian automotive market by meeting a wide range of consumer demands.

The milestone also underscores the plant’s versatile manufacturing capabilities and its contribution to both domestic sales and global exports. Vehicles produced at Manesar are shipped to various regions, including Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, and neighboring Asian countries, showcasing Maruti Suzuki’s global reach.

A Testament to Local Manufacturing

The success of the Manesar facility highlights Maruti Suzuki’s focus on self-reliance in manufacturing, driven by a well-established local supply chain. The plant has been instrumental in creating direct and indirect employment opportunities, supporting the local economy through job creation in production, quality assurance, and supply chain management. Its extensive network of suppliers and ancillary industries has further enhanced employment in the region.

Manesar’s export strategy has been a key part of Maruti Suzuki’s international competitiveness. For example, the plant was the first to produce the Baleno for export to Japan, demonstrating its ability to meet global demand while maintaining high-quality standards.

Commitment to Quality and Innovation

Maintaining a balance between efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality, the Manesar plant has continuously upgraded its production processes to adapt to changing market dynamics and integrate new technologies. This adaptability has been crucial in reinforcing Maruti Suzuki’s competitive edge.

Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO of Maruti Suzuki India, expressed gratitude for this milestone, saying, “As we reach this important landmark, I thank our customers for placing their trust in us. I also thank all our employees, business associates, and the Government of India for their continued support.”

The achievement reflects not just the numbers but also Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to advancing automotive manufacturing in India and positioning itself as a leader both domestically and globally.
