Seahawks hand Raiders first football loss of season; Cape now 5-1 | News, Sports, Jobs

Cape Coral 13, Riverdale 6: The Seahawks’ defense made the difference in this one, providing the winning touchdown on Jayden Boyd’s 55-yard scoop-and-score off a Riverdale fumble. Caleb Cobb scored Cape’s first TD on a 3-yard run in the third quarter. The Seahawks (5-1) handed Riverdale (6-1) its first loss of the season.

North Fort Myers 16, East Lee County 14: Brooke Hankinson’s short field goal with 5:20 to play got the Red Knights out front, and North’s special teams blocked a would-be Jaguars field goal to secure the victory. The Red Knights (6-1, 2-0 District 5A-11) have one district game remaining, next Friday at home against Riverdale. East Lee County had taken a 14-13 lead with about nine minutes to play. In the first half, Adrian Scott caught a 26-yard touchdown pass and Kirtis Denham ran for a 4-yard TD for North Fort Myers.

Charlotte 35, Mariner 28: In a game of streaks, it was Charlotte that had the final run. Mariner, down 20-0 at the half, jumped out to a 28-20 lead early in the fourth quarter. The Tarpons then scored the next two TDs, then intercepted a Mariner pass in the end zone on the game’s final play. Steve Carter first got the Tritons on the scoreboard with an 85-yard pick-six. Following a Charlotte fumble, Carter caught a 25-yard scoring pass from Owen O’Leary to cut the margin to 20-14. Before the third quarter ended, O’Leary connected with Jayden Fernandez on a 36-yard score. O’Leary hit his third TD pass of the night, a 33-yarder to Janarion Corbett, with 11:26 to play.

West Boca Raton 34, Bishop Verot 14: The Vikings suffered their third loss in seven games, falling behind 28-0 at the half. Quarterback Carter Smith scored on a 15-yard run and Javion Mallory added a 12-yard TD run for the Vikings.
