The race night winner, Jeremy McCowen, with show director, Kevin Kennedy.
A fantastic night was had by all in attendance last Friday in Spider O’ Brien’s, New Ross as St. Michael’s Theatre Musical Society (SMTMS) held its race night with a difference.
With hilarious miniature horses, many society members and friends participated in the event as the wrist-winding jockeys, while others chose to take a chance on their preferred horses to win, while watching the comedic results.
The event was coordinated with the aim of the funds raised on the night to be put towards the theatre’s inhouse musical society for their upcoming production of Sister Act. There were plenty of bets placed and competitive streaks unveiled, but Jeremy McCowen emerged as the victorious overall winner.
A spokesperson for the SMTMS said: “We would like to that everyone who supported us on the night, with special thanks to Lizzy and Ann-Marie Heffernan for organising the event, and to James Dobbs for providing music afterwards to ensure all were entertained late into the night.
“You can bet on the society’s next musical, Sister Act, being another great night out,” they added.
Sister Act will be staged in St. Michael’s Theatre from Tuesday, November 18 to Saturday, November 22, and tickets are available at 051 421255 and stmichaelsnewross.com.
