ROCHESTER — The Rochester Community and Technical College women’s soccer team dominated from the opening whistle en route to an 11-1 win over Anoka-Ramsey and the Region XIII title Saturday afternoon at Rochester Regional Stadium.
The Yellowjackets (11-4-1) will now play in the Midwest District tournament, serving as the tournament’s host on Friday, Oct. 31, and Saturday, Nov. 1. RCTC will play in the first semifinal at 5:00 p.m. on Friday against the winner of Region 4, while Anoka-Ramsey will play in the second semifinal against the winner of Region XII at 7:30 p.m. Both teams qualified for districts by making Saturday’s region final.
From the opening whistle, RCTC asserted its dominance. Becca Cook scored just 43 seconds into the game off a feed from Emma Scheppmann.
It was the start of a special day for the Lourdes graduate.
The sophomore scored five first-half goals and an assist to help RCTC to an 8-1 halftime lead.
Milla Van Der Velde recorded two goals and a pair of assists, while Scheppmann and Lilly Farrand each added a goal and a pair of assists for the Yellowjackets.
