After Ishaqzaade and Namaste England, Parineeti Chopra and Arjun Kapoor collaborated on their third film together – Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar. However, this one has the least strong on-screen chemistry between them. The theatrical release of the film, which starred Chopra and Kapoor in key roles, was delayed for more than two years, but now that it’s finally available, it may make viewers ‘faraar’ (run for their lives).

The release date was postponed for months due to multiple lockdowns and movie theatre closures during Covid-19. The movie finally came out on March 19, 2021. However, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar didn’t find any buyers because of the limitations and the resurgence of COVID-19 in the second wave later that month. The comedy thrill barely grossed Rs 40 lakh net in India and Rs 58 lakh internationally, despite having a Rs 20 crore budget. In the history of Indian cinema, this 2% return on investment is among the poorest.

Dibakar Banerjee is renowned for designing distinctive and conversation-starting outfits for his characters. Parineeti Chopra played a driven, aspirational business girl. She was situated in Delhi and had a very clear idea of her life goals. Arjun Kapoor, however, portrayed a Haryanvi police officer.

Due to its dark comic nature, Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar was not particularly popular with moviegoers. The number of views that these films’ trailers received on YouTube also shows that only a very small portion of the audience enjoys them. To everyone’s surprise, the film received critical acclaim on Prime Video India after a very short run in March 2021.

Ek Villain Returns, The Lady Killer, and Kuttey were some of Arjun Kapoor’s subsequent disappointments. He is currently preparing for the release of Singham Again, directed by Rohit Shetty. Parineeti Chopra, on the other hand, who experienced the box office setbacks of Saina and Code Name: Tiranga, won hearts in Amar Singh Chamkila’s biopic alongside Diljit Dosanjh.
