Even when a small-budget movie fails at the box office, the producers are still able to cover the expenses. However, some accusations are brought to light when a very costly film fails to rake numbers at the box office. The release of the 2024 movie Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan had a similar effect on the industry.  Bade Miyan Chhote Miyan, an action-packed movie, was released in theatres this year on Eid. Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff starred as the lead in the movie. Prithviraj Sukumaran, Alaya F, and Manushi Chhillar were among others who played significant parts in the Ali Abbas Zafar directorial.

There were high expectations for this Tiger Shroff-Akshay Kumar film. Despite having a 350 crore rupee budget, it reportedly lost close to 250 crore rupees. After its release, the movie made Rs 59.17 crore nationwide, according to the Bollywood Hungama report. At the same time, the movie made a total of Rs 102.16 crore worldwide.

The movie ‘Sultan‘ was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and starred Salman Khan in 2016. In this, Anushka Sharma was positioned across from the actor. The plot was well received by the audience, and the movie did incredibly well at the box office. The film made Rs 614.49 crore worldwide, according to Bollywood Hungama’s report.

Ali Abbas Zafar made directing debut in 2011 with Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. The movie, starring Katrina Kaif and Imran Khan turned out to be a success. In fact, Salman Khan regarded the director as one of his favourite filmmakers. They have collaborated on movies such as Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Bharat. Except for the last one, both movies were huge hits at the box office.

Things went down South for the director when he worked on the big-budget action film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Regretfully, it exploded, and how. In actuality, Ali Abbas Zafar’s products have lost close to Rs. 500 crores since 2019. Producers Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani, with whom Ali Abbas Zafar worked on the Akshay Kumar-Tiger Shroff film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, faced legal action from him. The crew of the actioner united behind the director, while the Bhagnanis have lodged a 17-page police case against Ali, alleging ‘criminal conspiracy’ and ‘misappropriation of funds.’
