Singapore Airlines And Air India Deepen Partnership with 51 New Codeshares

In an exciting announcement for Singapore Airlines and Air India customers, the two full-service carriers have today announced a significant expansion to their codeshare network. The codeshare agreement has been extended by 51 new destinations, adding 11 Indian cities and 40 international destinations to their network.

A major boost for travelers in India and Singapore

Perhaps it is unsurprising that such a major change is happening today, given that this is the first extensive expansion of the codeshare agreements between the airlines since 2010. The expanded agreement will benefit not only travelers in India and Singapore but also bring enhanced options for travelers beyond, such as in Australia, who can connect to Air India’s international services.

Starting from October 27, 2024, Air India and Singapore Airlines (SIA) will codeshare on each other’s flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Bengaluru and Chennai, increasing their total weekly scheduled codeshare services between the two countries to 56 from 14, increasing destination choices by more than three times.

Plenty of benefits for Air India passengers

Air India wants to offer its customers more choices and an extended global network, particularly now as it is undergoing an extensive rebuilding program and waiting for new aircraft to bolster its widebody fleet. The new codeshare agreement means that Air India customers can access 29 destinations across SIA’s network. Air India Chief Commercial Officer Nipun Aggarwal said:

“Air India and Singapore Airlines have been longtime partners, and with this expanded scope of our codeshare agreement we are excited to offer our guests greater connectivity to destinations across South East Asia, the Far East and Australasia. We also look forward to welcoming Singapore Airlines customers on board our flights.”

The 29 codeshare destinations that Air India’s customers can access include Adelaide, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns, Darwin and Perth in Australia, and nearby Auckland (New Zealand) and Bandar Seri Begawan (Brunei). The Philippines’ destinations are Manila and Cebu, and in Indonesia, Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan and Surabaya.
