Malaj at World Bank Ministerial: AI in Procurement and Strengthening Administrative Capacity for Project Management

Minister of Finance Petrit Malaj participated in the World Bank ministerial focused on enhancing the effectiveness of development projects, held during the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank Group in Washington, D.C.

During the ministerial, two new initiatives were proposed to expedite project implementation and improve their impact.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Finance, the first initiative aims to mobilize grants for project preparation without increasing public debt, thus enhancing both preparation time and quality.

The second proposal involves establishing an academy to strengthen the capacity of administrative staff in managing various projects.

The Ministry of Finance expressed its support for these initiatives, which are designed to improve project implementation, and highlighted the steps taken by the Albanian government in this regard.

The first initiative focuses on better aligning investment proposals with the Medium-Term Budget Program, while the second aims to enhance procurement processes, potentially utilizing Artificial Intelligence,” stated the Ministry.
