Sai Pallavi’s 2020 interview sparks controversy over India-Pak reference

Actress Sai Pallavi is facing massive backlash on social media after comments she made in a 2020 interview resurfaced. The controversy is linked to her remarks about the Indian Army and the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, made during promotions for her film Virataparvam.

In the interview, Sai Pallavi discussed the perception of Pakistanis by the Indian Army and vice versa, stating that violence is not a solution to these issues. Her comments, intended to highlight the futility of violence, have drawn criticism from various groups online. Some argue that her words have been taken out of context, claiming that she merely reflected on how both sides view each other.

The resurfacing of this interview has sparked renewed discussions about her stance, especially as she is currently involved in the production of Nitesh Tiwari’s upcoming film, Ramayanam, where she plays the role of Sita.

During the promotion for Virataparvam, Sai Pallavi also made remarks regarding the atrocities against Kashmiri Pandits and violence in the name of cow protection, emphasising that she did not align herself politically and acknowledged multiple perspectives.

Ramayana features Ranbir Kapoor in a lead role, with Yash portraying Ravana. Although the project faced delays, the crew clarified that the film is on hold rather than abandoned.
