Vietjet Launches New Airbus A320 Routes to India And South Korea

In 2023, Vietnam’s largest independent airline, Vietjet, aggressively entered the Australian market by investing more than a million dollars and launching nonstop flights from Vietnam to five Australian destinations. Concurrently with carving out a substantial market share between the two countries, Vietjet has continued its international expansion across Asia, which shows no signs of slowing up as the peak holiday season approaches.

Vietjet making new connections in India

Vietjet has been growing its presence in India since 2019. Today, it operates a network of more than 60 weekly flights on eight routes, connecting Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang with New Delhi, Mumbai, Kochi and Ahmedabad. Last week, Vietjet launched its nonstop service between Da Nang and Ahmedabad, reinforcing its position as the airline with the most connections between the two countries.

On October 23, 2024, Vietjet flight VJ1971 departed Da Nang International Airport (DAD) at 19:23 and, after a 5:03 flight, arrived in India at Ahmedabad International Airport (AMD) at 22:56. The flight was operated with a 2015 Airbus A320-200, registration VN-A650 and MSN 06457, that departed Ahmedabad at 00:40 on October 24 and arrived at Da Nang International at 07:26.

The route will operate twice weekly from Da Nang on Wednesdays and Saturdays and return from Ahmedabad on Thursdays and Sundays. The inaugural flight was particularly well received as passengers were able to travel nonstop between the two cities, saving significant time on their overall journey.

Vietjet launches 12th route to South Korea

While Vietjet moved exceptionally quickly to build its national Australian network, it has spent a decade developing its deep connections to South Korea. The low-cost carrier is now reaping the rewards of this long-term commitment and today launched its 12th nonstop service between Vietnam and South Korea.

The latest service, which started today, connects Vietnam’s Nha Trang to Daegu in South Korea with seven Airbus A320 return flights weekly. On Sunday, October 27, Vietjet flight VJ870 departed Nha Trang Cam Ranh International Airport (CXR) at 00:55 and, after a 4:33 hour flight, landed at Daegu International Airport (TAE) at 07:29. The flight was flown with a 2018 Airbus A320-200, registration VN-A629 and MSN 08605.

Vietjet Expects 10 New Airbus A321neos By End Of 2024

Vietjet is eagerly awaiting the delivery of up to 10 new Airbus A321neos before the end of this year.

This new route strengthens Vietjet’s extensive flight network between Vietnam and South Korea, which has carried nearly 11 million passengers in the last ten years. In the first nine months of this year, Vietnam welcomed 12.7 million international visitors, with 3.3 million (26%) of those from South Korea, making it Vietnam’s largest international market.

Vietjet has more than 300 weekly flights between Vietnam and South Korea, linking major cities including Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and Hai Phong to Seoul (Incheon), Busan and Daegu. Nha Trang is known as the Pearl of the East Sea for its clear turquoise waters, pristine beaches and world-class resorts, while Daegu attracts visitors with a unique blend of modernity and traditional culture.
