IBM launches offering to tackle AI, cloud and quantum-related risks

IBM has unveiled IBM Guardium Data Security Center, a new platform designed to fortify data security across multiple environments and throughout the entire data lifecycle.

This launch aims to address the evolving risks associated with hybrid cloud, artificial intelligence (AI), and quantum technologies that are challenging the conventional data security frameworks.

IBM Guardium Data Security Center promises to offer a unified view of data assets, enabling security teams to streamline their workflows.

The platform integrates data monitoring, governance, detection, response, AI security posture management, and cryptography with key management into a single dashboard.

This approach aims to enhance the efficiency of security professionals by providing generative AI capabilities that generate risk summaries.

The company’s new offering also features the IBM Guardium AI Security, a software tool that safeguards AI deployments against security vulnerabilities and policy breaches.

Additionally, IBM Guardium Data Security Center incorporates IBM Guardium Quantum Safe.

This software assists clients in protecting encrypted data against future cyberattacks that could be perpetrated by actors with access to quantum computers capable of breaking traditional encryption.

IBM Guardium Quantum Safe leverages IBM Research’s expertise, including post-quantum cryptography algorithms, and is supported by IBM Consulting.

IBM India and South Asia vice president of technology Viswanath Ramaswamy said: “Generative AI and quantum computing technologies present new opportunities and risks to Indian organisations. As Indian organisations navigate growing cybersecurity risks related to AI and evolving compliance regulations, they should invest in robust software capabilities to secure their AI data, models, and usage.

“Taking a proactive approach to secure quantum computing, which is the next big technology frontier, will also be crucial. IBM Guardium Data Security Center will provide Indian organisations with comprehensive visibility and protection against potential cybersecurity risks.”

This announcement follows IBM’s recent launch of its advanced AI models, Granite 3.0, which are tailored for business applications and will be open-source.

These models are positioned to compete with offerings from other tech giants, such as Microsoft, by capitalising on the increasing trend of generative AI in the enterprise sector.
