Second bomb threat at TIA in a week: Air India flight under scrutiny | Ratopati

Kathmandu, October 28 — For the second time in a week, bomb threats on flights have surfaced in Nepal. On Monday, reports emerged that a bomb was placed on an Air India flight heading from Kathmandu to New Delhi.

In response, security officials have begun checking the aircraft. SSP Damber BK of the Tribhuvan International Airport security office informed Ratopati that inspections are underway following information about explosive materials on AI-216.

The aircraft, which arrived from Delhi with 137 passengers, was scheduled to return to Delhi at 3:55 PM. However, after receiving the bomb threat from Delhi, SSP BK confirmed that checks are ongoing. There are currently 169 passengers waiting to board the flight to Delhi.

Earlier, on October 22, there was a bomb scare involving a Vistara Airlines flight. Following that, security agencies, including the police and Nepal Army, conducted searches and found some items.

At that time, when the bomb threat was reported for the aircraft that had landed in Kathmandu from Delhi, it created a brief panic.

Recently, there have been repeated bomb threats regarding flights in India, but searches have not yielded any actual explosives.
