PM Modi celebrates Diwali with BSF troops in Gujarat, India-China troops exchange sweets at LAC – India News
Prime Minister Narendra Modi celebrated Diwali with Border Security Force (BSF) personnel stationed in Gujarat’s Kutch, continuing his annual tradition of marking the festival alongside India’s armed forces. On Thursday, October 31, PM Modi visited a BSF outpost along the Pakistan border, where he interacted with soldiers and shared Diwali greetings.
Since taking office in 2014, PM Modi has made it a tradition to spend Diwali with military personnel, travelling to various locations each year to connect with the troops and celebrate the occasion.
India-China troops exchange sweets
Meanwhile, Indian and Chinese troops exchanged sweets at several border points along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on Diwali, a gesture that coincided with recent troop disengagement at Demchok and Depsang Plains in eastern Ladakh.
This exchange, which occurred across five Border Personnel Meeting (BPM) points—Bum La and Wacha/Kibithu in Arunachal Pradesh, Chushul-Moldo and Daulat Beg Oldi in Ladakh, and Nathu La in Sikkim—signalled a positive step in Sino-Indian relations.
An Indian Army source confirmed the disengagement process was completed, with patrolling soon to resume. Ground commanders are currently finalising verification and patrolling arrangements following the disengagement.
