Celebrate Halloween Through Music, Science, Time Warp at Luther College – KCHA NEWS – Charles City’s News, Weather & Sports

Luther College students, faculty and staff invite the Decorah and the northeast Iowa area community to celebrate Halloween on campus Halloween night (10.310, with a variety of free spooky events to entertain and engage ghosts and goblins of all ages. 

Festivities begin at 6 pm Thursday night with the Haunted Lab Weekend inside Valders Hall of Science. This hands-on event features eye-catching optical illusions and laser displays created by physics and chemistry students. Don’t be afraid to interact with the demonstrations or ask the “science ghosts” questions from 6–8 p.m. on Thursday; 6–8 pm on Friday; and 1–3 pm Saturday.

Guest organist Matthew Gender will improvise an accompanying score on the 49-stop Sipe pipe organ for the 1925 silent horror film The Phantom of the Opera at 8 pm Thursday in the Center for Faith and Life. 

Other Halloween events at Luther Halloween night include:

  • Trick-or-treating, 6–7:30 p.m., Brandt Hall, plus cookie decorating, crafts and games.
  • The Rocky Horror Picture Show, showing at 6 pm Valders Hall of Science, 206. Bring a friend and be ready to do the time warp with the 1975 cult classic film.
