Men’s Soccer Heads South to Navy for Friday Night Clash

BOSTON – Riding a five-game unbeaten streak, the Boston University men’s soccer team will visit Navy on Friday with action slated for a 7 p.m. start time.
With two games remaining, the Terriers are currently second in the Patriot League standings at 12 points, two behind Bucknell and one ahead of American. Navy sits tied-for-fourth with four other programs at 10 points. In total, nine programs are alive for one of the six slots in the PL tournament.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- BU is attempting to repeat as conference regular season champion for the first time since 2011 when the Terriers were still in the America East.
- Sophomore Andrea Di Blasio and graduate student Aidan Bone have both earned a brace in Patriot League play to grab a team-high four goals apiece with Bone the last to accomplish the feat against American last Saturday. Di Blasio also has an assist for a team-high nine points.
- 15 Terriers have earned at least one point after junior Alex Bonnington assisted on one of Bone’s goals against the Eagles.
- Graduate student Andrew Wike has started five of the seven conference games at net, earning a .647 save percentage and 1.10 goals against average with two shutouts.
- BU is 1-2-3 on the road after most recently earning a 1-0 victory at Colgate back on Oct. 19. The Terriers previously dropped a 3-1 decision at Lehigh and recorded a 2-2 draw at Loyola Maryland.
- Opponents are averaging 0.3 more shots per game (9.3-9.0) with a 76-48 lead in corner kicks.
SCOUTING NAVY
- The Midshipmen are 2-2-3 at home with a 3-2 win over Loyola Maryland and 2-2 draw against Colgate. The other win came against Niagara (3-0) in non-conference play.
- Navy most recently earned a 1-0 victory at Lehigh following a 3-0 loss at Holy Cross and 2-1 defeat to Army.
- Wyatt Stevens leads Navy with four goals though has not played since scoring against Lafayette on Sept. 21.
- A.J. Schuetz is second on the team at seven points (3g,1a), while Victor Saade owns a team-high three assists.
- Pierce Holbrook has played all 14 games at net, posting a .771 save percentage and 1.36 goals against average.
- Opponents are averaging 3.3 more shots per game with a 91-72 advantage in corner kicks.
SERIES HISTORY
- BU leads the all-time series, 7-2-2, after claiming a 4-1 home victory last season.
- The Terriers are 1-2-1 all-time on the road following a 1-1 draw in 2022.
- BU’s lone road victory occurred in double overtime in 2015.
LOOKING AHEAD
- The Terriers will end the regular season at Holy Cross on Tuesday (Nov. 5) with a 6 p.m. start time.
- BU won last year’s meeting at home, 3-0, after dropping a 2-1 road decision in 2022.
- The contest is part of the Turnpike Trophy all-sports competition between the two schools. BU currently leads, 5-0, after women’s soccer prevailed, 3-0, back on Oct. 16.
