Everything about his contributions in Bollywood films
Famous fashion designer Rohit Bal passed away on Friday, leaving behind his legacy of innovative designs and his unmatched fashion sense. While we all know Rohit was a celebrated designer, did you know he used to occasionally appear in the movies too? Yes, you read it right. There are movies in which Rohit gave a special appearance. Today, as we are remembering his contribution to the fashion industry, let’s also recall the movies in which he appeared:
Love You Hamesha
Love You Hamesha is an Indian Hindi-language romance film by director Kailash Surendranath. The movie starred actors like Akshaye Khanna and Sonali Bendre in the lead roles but also had Rohit Bal in a special appearance. Since the movie is about people who come to Mumbai in search of fame, Rohit played himself (a fashion designer) in the movie. The film had a delayed release after over two decades on YouTube in 2022.
True West
True West is a filmed play about two brothers; out of them, one is a criminal and the other is a screenwriting family man who becomes appalled by his wayward brother’s relationship with a producer. Other than actors like Bruce Willis and Chad Smith, Rohit Bal played a small role in the movie.
Other than these two, Rohit was also there in Monsoon Wedding and Boom.
Contribution to Madhur Bhandarkar’s Fashion
Other than giving his special appearance in movies, by helping director Madhur Bhandarkar in his deep research, Rohit had also contributed to the hit movie Fashion.
The Indian Hindi-language movie Fashion that starred actors like Priyanka Chopra and Kangana Ranaut was all about how the fashion industry in India works, and for the in-depth research required in this matter, Rohit helped Madhur with his insights. The movie was an instant hit.
Other than appearing in the movies and lending his knowledge of fashion to the directors like Madhur Bhandarkar, Rohit also designed clothes for many movies for years. He designed costumes for the movies that were traditional as well as contemporary. Well known for his creative designing that Bollywood celebs also loved both on and off-screen, Rohit over the years became a fashion legend in the film industry as well.
Rohit is now not with us, but his legacy continues to inspire many in both the fashion industry and Bollywood.
