Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo are expected to make Michael Carrickās squad on Saturday, despite coming off with knocks before the international break.
Although Carrick opted to stay tight-lipped on the pairās condition, they did then decide to withdraw from the England squad for their Nations League fixtures.
Whatās been said about Mainoo and Rashford?
However, Laurie Whitwell has now suggested that the homegrown Reds rightfully prioritised their club involvement, as he said on the Talk of the Devils podcast: āMainoo and Rashford.. yeah.
āListen, I think there are certain choices that are made that are for the benefit of Manchester United. I donāt think theyād be [considered] doubts for the Spurs game.ā
After coming off the bench for the season-opener away to Hull City, the duo have started every Premier League game since.
Yet, aside from Mainoo and Rashford, United are still navigating some potentially serious injury concerns.
Carrickās current injury list
Benjamin Sesko was absent from the draw with Fulham last time out due to a re-aggravation of his shin injury, which is proving to be a persistent problem, given it also ended his 2025/2026 campaign prematurely.
Patrick Dorgu had to leave the Denmark camp after being forced off following a non-contact issue.
It has since been revealed that Dorgu felt some discomfort in his hamstring; again, an injury that, like Sesko, has already flagged up once before for the 21-year-old.
Noussair Mazraoui came off worse in a collision while in action for Morocco, and he proceeded to miss their final outing of the break.
It remains to be seen if longer-term absentees such as Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt will be cleared to feature in some form.
