Taconic Music offers an evening of music by American masters | Arts And Culture
MANCHESTER — Taconic Music will present a violin-piano duo recital at Israel Congregation of Manchester at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
Violinist Joana Genova and pianist Willis Delony have performed recitals together in Vermont, Massachusetts, Indiana and Louisiana, and have concerts in Baton Rouge and New Orleans slated for March 2025. Their album “Stephen Dankner: Four Sonatas for Violin and Piano” was released on the Centaur label to critical acclaim in April 2024.
Genova is the co-artistic director of Taconic Music and adjunct faculty at Williams and Bennington colleges and Montclair State University. She performs nationally and internationally as a chamber musician and orchestral player. Delony is the Boyd Professor of Piano and Jazz Studies at Louisiana State University and has won accolades as one of the nation’s leading classical/jazz crossover artists.
The duo will perform Stephen Dankner’s gorgeous and dramatic Sonatas No. 1 and 3; selections from Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess; a virtuosic arrangement by John Williams of Jerry Brock’s Fiddler on the Roof; and a premiere of a brand-new jazz piece by Delony.
Tickets are $15 for adults at the door; students and kids are free. For more information, visit taconicmusic.org.
