Connecticut Lost Another Live, Local Music Venue This Morning

If there are no performance venues in which to hone your craft, how can local musicians earn their stripes and make a living at doing what they love? More bad news Connecticut live music fans, a legendary champion of the Connecticut live music/entertainment scene who provided a space for thousands of local musicians over it’s 11 years has announced their permanent closure this morning.

Crystal Bees at 240 Spring Street in Southington announced via their social media this morning that it’s all over, they are closing their doors forever effective as of today (November 5, 2024). According to the statement signed by the Team at Crystal Bees “The current economic landscape has made it increasingly difficult to continue as a restaurant and entertainment venue. We understand this news may be disappointing, especially for those who had tickets to upcoming shows or booked parties and events with us. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Rest assured, all ticket purchases and event deposits will be fully refunded.”

Do you remember The Sting in New Britain? Toad’s Place in Waterbury? or any of the hundreds of bars, restaurants, and straight up performance spaces of the past? Crystal Bees provided a stage for the dozens of touring cover bands that blew through Connecticut a couple of times a year. Tribute bands like Presence, Wildside, Beyond the Wall, KSF, and the Stevie Experience cannot sell out the Bushnell, Webster, or New Haven’s Toad’s Place, but a bowling alley in Southington? They did ok. Hang tight Cadillac Ranch.

A Sneak Peek of the New Restaurant Coming to Morris – La Guera

I love it when a food truck operator does well enough to plant some roots and settle into a real sit-down restaurant. Morris has a beautiful food truck location in the Pasture at South Farms on Watertown Road, and directly across the street we spotted a new restaurant that will have their grand opening celebration during the first week of November 2024. Have a look at what’s coming soon.
