The World Bank, in collaboration with the UK Government and in partnership with the Ministry of High-Tech Industry launched today an initiative on “Cybersecurity Maturity Assessment in Armenia”

The World Bank, in collaboration with the UK Government and in partnership with the Ministry of High-Tech Industry launched today an initiative on “Cybersecurity Maturity Assessment in Armenia”.  The opening remarks were made by John Gallagher, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Armenia, Gevorg Mantashyan, Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry and Arman Vatyan, World Bank Armenia. The activity is aimed at assessing the maturity of cybersecurity in Armenia, to inform policy making as well as its implementation in Armenia.

Aligned with the government’s vision of accelerating digitalization in Armenia as a driver of growth, resilience, and inclusion, this initiative will support the government to identify priority action areas to improve cybersecurity capacity in the country, in turn contributing to increased trust in the use of digital services. The activity will utilize global tools such as the Cybersecurity Capacity Maturity Model to assess the cybersecurity vulnerabilities and strengths across at a national level and provide relevant recommendations on improvement to the Ministry of High-Tech Industry and Information Systems Agency of Armenia for further application.

The activity will also assess the cybersecurity maturity of key public service delivery sectors that are undergoing digitalization, to enable the government to operationalize their cybersecurity development frameworks, including coordination mechanisms with the newly established national cybersecurity incident response team (am-cert.am). Based on the assessment, the activity will provide specific, actionable recommendations to fill the gaps and vulnerabilities identified and develop a roadmap for strengthening cybersecurity and digital resilience in Armenia.
