Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo’s ‘Wicked’-Themed Looks [PHOTOS]

“Wicked,” out Nov. 22 in the United States, is based on the hit Broadway musical of the same name. Jon M. Chu directs Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo in the lead roles of Glinda and Elphaba, respectively, while supporting cast members include Michelle Yeoh, Bowen Yang and Jeff Goldblum.

Amid numerous “Wicked” fashion and beauty collaborations, the two stars are actively promoting the musical adaptation. Months ahead of the film’s release, Grande and Erivo began breaking out “Wicked”-themed looks in each of their character’s signature colors: pink and green. Decked out in custom looks by Thom Browne, Louis Vuitton, Versace and more, the duo has attended award shows, conventions, screenings and red carpets in support of the film.

Grande and Erivo’s “method dressing” is a technique favored by several stars on recent press tours, including Zendaya for “Dune: Part Two” and Jenna Ortega for “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”

  At the 2024 Oscars, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande presented the awards for Best Original Song and Best Original Score. Both stars played with volume and structure with their looks.

   

  Erivo’s green leather Louis Vuitton gown featured a plunging neckline and a matching cape with puff sleeves and ruffles. Roberto Coin jewelry, including a diamond and emerald bracelet, completed her look.

   

  Grande, meanwhile, went strapless in a poofy pink Giambattista Valli creation with a voluminous peplum hem. She accessorized with Jimmy Choo’s Romy pumps and jewels from Tiffany & Co.

  Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo provided a first look at “Wicked” at the 2024 CinemaCon conference last April. 

   

  Grande blossomed in a pink floral minidress from Oscar de la Renta’s spring 2024 presentation. She accessorized with Irene Neuwirth jewelry and white Jimmy Choo pumps.

   

  Erivo’s Versace ensemble featured a custom twist. While the Broadway star’s metallic chainmail skirt came directly from the label’s fall 2024 collection, Versace created a green off-the-shoulder corset top for Erivo based on similar designs from the same line. A pair of green satin thigh-high platform boots topped off her look.

  Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande attended the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics in sculptural looks by Louis Vuitton and Thom Browne.

   

  Erivo’s emerald green frock, inspired by Dominique Deveraux of the soap opera “Dynasty,” featured a sweetheart neckline. She accessorized with a matching wide-brimmed hat and pumps, completing her look with Roberto Coin jewels.

   

  Grande’s Thom Browne creation featured a similarly flared skirt, but with a high neckline, a sleeveless silhouette and a bow affixed at the waist. Her pink and white brogue heels were also designed by the American label.

  Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande attended a special screening of “Wicked” in New York on Oct. 28.

   

  Erivo wore a green embroidered Louis Vuitton coat, which she previously wore at the 92nd Oscars Nominee Luncheon in 2020.

   

  Grande modeled an ivory ensemble by Atelier Versace, which consisted of an asymmetrical structured vest with molded cups and silver buttons, as well as a flared skirt. A pair of white elbow-length gloves, pearl earrings and one of the Italian label’s Medusa ’95 handbags topped off her look.

  For the premiere, Grande chose a custom Vivienne Westwood tulle gown featuring puff sleeves, a corseted bodiice and crystal embellishments. Eviro also channeled her “Wicked” character in a black strapless Louis Vuitton gown with a peplum skirt.
