Mahindra Scorpio N pickup spotted testing — will this come to India? – Car News

Mahindra Global Pik concept is based on the Scorpio N and upon launch it will rival other lifestyle pickup trucks like Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux.

Mahindra has witnessed tremendous success with the new-gen Scorpio, commonly referred to as Scorpio N, ever since it hit the Indian market in June 2022. Till June this year, Mahindra had reportedly dispatched 1.27 lakh units of Scorpio N ever since it was first launched. The company has plans to extend the Scorpio N range further.

A pickup truck based on the Scorpio N was recently spied testing on Indian roads. The latest spy images have reportedly been clicked on the Mumbai-Bangalore bypass in Pune. However, it must be noticed that the prototype spotted comes with a single cab layout with an extended luggage bed which is unlikely to come to India in the future.

To jog back your memories, Mahindra had unveiled the Global Pik Up concept based on the same platform underpinning South Africa in South Africa in 2023. The test mule seen in the latest spy shots verify that it is based on the Scorpio N with an almost identical front end design featuring a seven-slat grille flanked by twin projector headlamps. It misses out on a few fancy bits from the Scorpio N like LED headlights and fog lamps.

The taillamps seen in the test mule are the same units that are offered in the current Scorpio Pikup sold in Australia. The pickup truck rolls on 17-inch steel wheels. The images suggest that this version of the pickup truck based on the Scorpio N will most likely cater to the B2B and fleet segment. As a result, the cabin interiors and equipment on this vehicle will most likely be basic and bare bones.

Mahindra Scorpio N pickup truck: Possible launch

This version of the Scorpio N Pik Up will most probably be exported to foreign markets rather than sold in India. On the other hand, the model with a dual cab layout is expected to make it to the Indian market at some point in the future. Upon launch, Mahindra is likely to name this version as “Scorpio X” since the company filed a trademark application for the same a few months back.

The pickup truck will most likely be powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel mHawk engine which is available in two states of tune – 130bhp and 172bhp – and we can expect the latter, with a four-wheel-drive system to keep it relevant in terms of competition. Transmission duties will be carried out either by a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
