Delhi Metro to Expand Platforms at 32 Stations to Tackle Peak-Hour Rush

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced to extend platforms at 32 metro stations across Delhi-NCR, in a move to reduce peak-hour congestion and make the travel experience better for commuters, PTI reported, citing an official.
The DMRC has floated a tender for the project, with an estimated outlay of Rs 5.71 crore. The work is expected to be completed within one year from the day construction begins.

- Noida City Centre on Line-3 (Blue Line)

How will it be beneficial for commuters?
The DMRC official said that the extension of the Delhi Metro will enable stations to handle longer trains and more passengers.
“This step will make boarding and deboarding easier, reduce congestion, and make travel more comfortable for passengers, especially during peak hours,” the official said.
Moreover, it will provide direct and significant benefits to millions of Delhi Metro passengers. The move is also part of DMRC’s continuing efforts to upgrade infrastructure and enhance commuter experience on the busy Dwarka-Noida and Dwarka-Vaishali corridors.
Reduced crowding will also lessen jostling on platforms, making travel safer for passengers and reducing the risk of accidents, the official added.
Delhi Metro to Connect IGI Airport’s Terminal 1 & 3
A new metro station will be built on the upcoming Golden Line to connect Delhi Airport’s Terminal 1 with Terminal 3, a senior official said last week. Currently, Terminals 2 and 3 are close to each other, but Terminal 1 is a few kilometres away.
Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar said the new integrated metro station will link Aerocity directly to Terminal 1, making travel between terminals faster and easier.
